I ran across this humorous video that interviews Paul Watkin, a profession wine educator. The video is quite informative as it discusses some wine history, pros and cons of various wine types, how to enjoy wine to its maximum and how to pair wine at your BBQ with steak, pork, chicken and fish. The video is approximate 12 minutes long, but its easy presentation and humor will make the minutes fly. Favorite wines discussed include Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Gewruztraminer.

Wine Tasting Tips: Food & Red Wine Pairing

On September 10th of this year, I posted a good video that discussed food pairing with white wines. I found another video that might interest you by the same person that presents a discussion about food pairings with red wine. I decided to post it as well to give you complete exposure to the recommendations for both red and white wines. I subscribe to the idea that you should buy the wine you like the best and then match the food with it. Others say the opposite and decide what they want to eat and then match the wine to it. In the end, it doesn’t matter as long as you enjoy the combination of the food and wine.

As I always say, buy the wine you enjoy the most, properly store it in a wine cooler, serve it at the right temperature and enjoy it!

I ran across an video that discusses some things to consider when pairing food with white wine. Some times it is easier to buy the wine and then select the food that best compliments it. The video explains why Sauvigon Blanc maybe the most versitile wine to pair with food. This presentation is only about three minutes but covers a broad array of wine and complimenting food choices. Wine Types: Best Wines for Resveratrol

The video below is somewhat lengthy, but it contains a good discussion of the human health effects of resveratrol. Resveratrol is a molecule found in various red wines that is purported to have positive health effects based on research on mice. More study is needed to understand the true effects of this molecule on humans, but what we do know is that drinking alcoholic beverages to excess is not good for your health. As with most things in life, a balance must be achieved between drinking wine to improve health and drinking wine to degrade health. The video does go on to recommend what red wine would best meet resveratrol intake objectives.
